We know the hardest part of planning every trip or vacation is leaving your furry best friend behind.  It’s especially hard when you know your only option is to leave your buddy caged up.

Caring for guest in the yard

At The Royal Pet Retreat, we want your furbaby to have as much fun as you during your vacation! We are ready to host your best pal at puppy camp, where they can play the day away.  At night, your pup will rest easy in our climate controlled facility.

At The Royal Pet Retreat, we have had years of experience caring for dogs and cats. While here, your BFF will enjoy fresh air, sunshine, and plenty of playtime with our family, all while receiving the loving care they deserve. Your pup will get lots of time to explore in one of our large play yards. We offer private runs with magnetized flap doggie doors, so your furbaby has access to the outside anytime he or she wants (24/7).

We are located just 35 minutes east of Cincinnati. Royal Pet Retreat is located on 6 acres at the end of secluded road.  We live on the property just feet from the kennel, so your little ones will be well-attended – both day and night.   Our facility has perimeter fencing and several large totally fenced exercise areas. We also accept special needs dogs, puppies, seniors, and cats. To accommodate special needs guests, we have several playpens and indoor runs.

Military and long term discounts available.

Guests heading to yard

What makes Royal Pet Retreat better than other kennels? We do several things different than the average kennel.  Our campers’ comfort and happiness is our first concern.

Because we are located at the end of a quiet one lane road, our campers are safe and we don’t have to worry about bothering our neighbors.

We have totally enclosed runs with a six foot perimeter fence for added security.

We are a small pet retreat with a caretaker living on the premises.

Our guests are treated like our own pets & are never just numbers in cages. We would never think of charging extra to pet, hug, or play with our campers.

Our floors are swept and mopped every day just like your own house.  We do not hose out, so there are no wet and smelly floors.

We have central heat and air conditioning for our guest’s comfort.

Our campers are not locked inside. Each indoor/outdoor run has a plastic flap door that our guests can push open to go out anytime they like, 24/7.

In addition to our open doggie door policy we also have FOUR totally fenced, one half acre exercise areas. Our campers are let out individually into these areas at least 3 times per day for a good romp and play time.

What shots do we require for our campers?

We require a current Rabies, DHLP-PARVO and Bordetella (kennel cough) for all of our campers. We must see written records before the pet is allowed at the kennel.  All campers will be examined at check in for fleas, or any other health concerns. Any campers checking in with fleas, will be bathed and treated at owner’s expense before being allowed in the kennel.

What will it cost to have my pet come for a camp out at Royal Pet Retreat?

It is $32.00 a day for one dog. If two dogs from the same family share a run, the cost is $55.00 a day for two dogs. For three or more dogs from the same family please contact us for a discounted quote. We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and PayPal as payment. We charge like a motel – you pay for each night no matter what time you check in. Check out time is 4:00 PM, if you pick up before 4:00 PM there is no additional charge for that day. If you pick up after 4:00 PM, you will be charged an additional fee. We do offer military discounts as well as discounts for campers staying over 14 days at a time.

What times can I drop my pet off at Royal Pet Retreat?

We are a small, family-run business so we require that all of our campers call or email for an appointment time to drop off or pick up. We take appointments 7 days a week 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM weekdays, 10:00 to 4:00 PM on Sat., and 12:00 to 4:00 on Sun. We are closed all major holidays. If you need to drop off or pick up on a holiday or before or after hours, there will be a $20.00 charge for Holiday or off hours appointment.

Happy guest

Can I come and tour Royal Pet Retreat before making my reservation?

We love showing off our kennels, so we will gladly give you a tour. Please contact us an appointment to see the kennel in person.

Will my dog be allowed to go out with friends for a group playtime?

No. Dogs who are from the same family will be allowed to play together. However, for the safety of our guests, we keep separate playtimes for each dog or family of dogs.

What kind of food do we give our campers?

We try to keep our guests on their normal diet and routine. We ask that you bring their usual food from home. Please be sure your pet is familiar with the diet you bring, since sudden changes in diet can bring on upset stomachs. If your pet requires mixed or refrigerated food, no worries, just bring it along and we will be happy to prepare it at no additional cost. You do not need to bring dishes, we have stainless steel bowls that are washed and sterilized daily.

What if my pet needs to take pills or another medication while staying at Royal Pet Retreat?

Having worked with pets for years, we have no problems giving our campers their medications, pills, ear drops or even insulin shots. Just bring it with you with complete written instructions.

Can I bring treats for my pet?

Yes please feel free to bring, treats or chews, but only those your pet is accustomed to receiving at home. Do not bring rawhide or any treat which can be a choking hazard.

Playtime

Can I bring toys for my pet?

Yes toys are fine, but please don’t bring anything that can not be easily replaced. Usually your toys are returned, but with dogs playing, chewing, etc., they can become lost or destroyed.

What kind of bedding do our campers use?

We furnish blankets for our guests so you don’t have to bring any from home, but most pets like to have something familiar that smells like home so if you would like to bring a rug or small blanket that smells like home, please feel free. Please do not bring anything that is not machine washable.

Can I have my pet groomed at Royal Pet Retreat before going home?

We do offer a go home bath, toe nail trim and blow dry for an additional fee if time permits. We also offer de-shedding service for an additional fee. Please ask when making reservation or checking in if a grooming spot is available.

Can I ask for references from past customers?

We will happily share references from our guests and their families. Contact Us.
